"Carr Cemetery is named after John Carr, the
original nominee of Lot 11 on Concession 8 where it is located. John Carr
married Maria Vanwicklin and arrived in Canada with his family in 1796 from New
York. At the same time, Maria's parents, Paul Vanwicklin and Hendrickye Remsen,
emigrated with them. All of the burials in this cemetery are descendants and
partners of these two families [Carrs and Vanwicklins]." |
